Russian Hacking Expert Malcolm Nance to Kick Off Privacy XChange Forum

Russian Hacking Expert Malcolm Nance to Kick Off Privacy XChange Forum
July 10, 2017

Malcolm Nance predicted Russian hackers were trying to influence the course of American politics in his book, The Plot to Hack America: How Putin’s Cyberspies and WikiLeaks Tried to Steal the 2016 Election.

Since then, the intelligence expert, historian and author has become the lead counter-terrorism expert  for NBC News and MSNBC, analyzing the Russian hacking investigation and related news from the Capitol.

Nance will bring his unique insight on the Russian hacking investigation and global cyber security issues to the 2017 Privacy XChange Forum Oct. 22-24 in Lake Las Vegas, Nevada. He joins an exciting lineup of speakers including Preet Bharara, former U.S. attorney for Southern District of New York, and Bruce Schneier, cyber security guru and CTO for IBM Resilient.

The forum, now in its fifth year, brings together cyber security and industry leaders from around the world to shape the cyber security and privacy agenda for the year. Register now to learn how to better protect your clients, employees and customers.

The April 2016 hacking of the Democratic National Committee’s email servers triggered a chain of events that reverberates today. The FBI found that hackers probed or attacked the voter registration systems in more than 25 state election offices. Recent revelations point to Russian efforts to hack into election software systems to disrupt voting at the local level, potentially compromising the election results directly.

Nance claims the Russian hacking was carried out specifically to elect Donald Trump president; that Trump's advisors, including Paul Manafort, were most likely involved; and that Putin personally developed and orchestrated the hacking.

Nance is a former naval intelligence counter-terrorism and intelligence officer specializing in the Middle East. He is a combat veteran, historian and author who spent 35 years participating in field and combat intelligence activity, including both covert and clandestine anti-terrorism and counterterrorism support to national intelligence agencies.
