The new breach notification and recordkeeping requirements under PIPEDA (Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) will become effective Nov. 1, 2018. Previously a voluntary component of the law, businesses that experience a privacy breach will soon be mandated to notify victims and document the organization’s breach response efforts.

This webinar explores how businesses can get ready for the new PIPEDA rules—and how insurers and brokers can expand their books of business by providing solutions that support the next generation of regulations.

In this webinar, you’ll learn:

  • breach notification changes coming under PIPEDA in 2018
  • new rules about documenting privacy breach responses
  • financial and reputational damages the new mandate may trigger
  • where cyber policies can help protect businesses
  • and much more!

Once a product for commercial lines, cyber insurance is emerging as the next frontier for personal lines coverages. Cyber threats such as data theft, system compromise and social media risks are no longer exclusive to businesses; they happen to people, too. And the costs are exorbitant, ranging from $2.4 million in ransomware-related losses to $58 million in identity theft losses to $360 million in email compromise losses, according to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center.

  • The top cyber risks for individuals in an increasingly complex cyber landscape

How prepared is your organization for the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)? On May 25, 2018, this privacy-oriented rule will go into effect and its reach extends well beyond the EU’s borders in terms of data collection, processing, and privacy. Organizations may think they know all the ramifications of this privacy-oriented rule, but the true significance of the requirements should be fully evaluated by all U.S.-based businesses that collect or process EU citizens’ personal information.

On Wednesday, September 27 CyberScout and Advisen discussed the ramifications of GDPR in a world where so many businesses are operating across borders and data protection is very crucial. The webinar discussed how organizations can be well-prepared for this new data protection regulation.
